Jim Barnett Park and Christianson Familyland

The park has 10 lined outdoor pickleball courts available free during the warmer months, first come, first served except when reserved for classes or events. PklPlex

Inside the Sportsplex at 221 Commonwealth Court, this nearby Winchester-area facility has eight indoor courts and daily hours of 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Play options include reserved courts, drop-in sessions, leagues and instruction. A free Visitor account provides access to paid play: open-play sessions cost $15, and court reservations cost $15 per player per hour, with visitor booking two days ahead. Winchester Country Club

At 1300 Senseny Road, the indoor bubble has 12 permanently lined pickleball courts alongside four tennis courts. Year-round court hours are 6 a.m.-11 p.m. Members can reserve courts; nonmembers must be accompanied by a member and pay guest fees. Lessons and Beginner Starts

New adults can start with Frederick County's Beginner/Advancing Beginner Lessons at Sherando. The October 2026 course runs Wednesdays, September 30-October 21, with a choice of 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. or 7-8:30 p.m. Sessions are for ages 18 and older and cost $70. In the county registration catalog, choose Adult Sports, then Adult Pickleball Lessons and the beginner October session. Register for the course before attending; ordinary court use is not a lesson.
